Why Join Galilee? PDF Print E-mail

One of our deepest desires and greatest needs is to belong. We first encounter this need/desire growing up in our homes. It continues in life as we associate with peers, make friends and move in other group settings. Church membership is about belonging to each other at a deeply profound level. Because of that need, we believe a commitment to your local church is one of the most important things you'll do in your lifetime. So we strongly encourage regular attenders to become a member. What is required for membership?

Galilee Membership Requirements:

  1. Attend the "Discovering Galilee" class
  2. Sign the membership covenant
  3. Participate in baptism by immersion
  4. Share your personal faith story

The Discovering Galilee class covers everything you need to know about membership. We discuss the mission, vision, beliefs, and ministry strategies you'll be supporting as a member. It also covers spiritual growth, spiritual transformation, and gives helpful information on how you can best plug into ministries. You can sign up by calling the office (763 784 1760) or through the bulletin sign up card.

What if I've already been baptized?

At Galilee, baptism is a public declaration of your faith, and an expression of a decision you made when you could understand what you were doing. If you were baptized as an infant, we ask that you be baptized again - this time, you (not your parents) are the one making the decision to follow Christ. If you made the choice to be baptized by immersion at another church, however, you do not need to repeat your baptism at Galilee. To learn more about what we believes about baptism, click here.

What is the membership covenant?

Galilee's membership covenant outlines the commitment you are making to this church when you become a member. It's based on key principles that lead to a healthy church and worshipful life. We never ask anyone to commit to more than what the Bible expects of us.

What does it mean to share my story?

We ask those interested in membership to share their salvation experience with our elders and female leaders. This is a non threatening environment and a time of celebration and getting to know each other's journeys. It is encouraging and done with others who are joining, so you wont be doing this alone.
